I don’t even watch this show (I have been thinking about it) and, still, I had to reblog
(via a-fall-leaf-something)
“Matthew Macfadyen finds a human dimension in the taciturn landowner Fitzwilliam Darcy that was missing in earlier, more conventionally heroic portrayals. Mr. Macfadyen’s portrayal of the character as a shy, awkward suitor whose seeming arrogance camouflages insecurity and deep sensitivity is more realistic.”
Nope. The character as was written was true to the era it was written in and this version completely goes outside the trueness of the characters. The earlier versions stuck with the reality of propriety and social rules of the time. I really feel this version should have been done as a “modern take” etc. I did not care for it in the least. At all. Lady Catherine showing up at someone’s home at 3am? Elizabeth’s wishy washy character? Darcy being so sloppy at times? and making Bingley basically stupid? No Thank you. Matthew Mc. was the best part of it and I do like him as an actor, though.
